Mesoamerica

The region of Mesoamerica was a cultual area that included the Aztec civilization. Evidence of Mesoamerica's architecture can be found in the city of Cholula as well as north of Mexico City at Teotihuacan. The city of Cholula is the home of several mytserious pyramids that were excavated in the 1930's through tunnels that were created by archaeologists. Cholula was under Aztec control right before Hernán Cortés invaded. He destroyed the pyramids of Cholula and proclaimed to build a church in their place, as a remembrance of the lost pyramids.
