For this assignment, we were asked to pick an educational topic that we felt passionate about and write an 800-word blog post about that topic. I wrote about why learning a second language is important, particularly in high school and college. I completed revisions on this assignment in order to present a clearer thesis. I also edited my body paragraphs to present more substantial evidence to my claims.

 

An example of this can be found in the section titled, (Learning a Second Language…) “Makes You Smarter”, I added two additional links to better support my claim that learning a second language provides opportunities for a person. In various parts of my text, I had awkward wording and my statements did not seem to flow in a way that presented my ideas well. Revising this Blarg also included that I rewrote sentences and paragraphs to explain my ideas in a way that read easier.

 

I also cleaned up the section following the one discussed above by connecting the example of writing notes with made-up symbols to how languages contain unique ideas about our world. My original paragraph did not connect two very well but I think by taking two more sentences to explain the connection, I was able to develop a stronger argument. At the end of the Blarg, I added several links to direct readers to potential language-learning or language-developing opportunities.
